Following my graduation from Sturgeon Composite High School I went to the University of Alberta and then Lakeland College and obtained my Veterinary Technologist license and diploma in Agri-business. I worked in the large animal industry for a while with embyro transplants and AI services. I then worked at a small animal veterianry emergency hospital, responsible for lab work, x-rays, anaesthesia, some small surgeries, and administration of treatments to animals. I then went back to university to complete a degree in education and then worked at Sturgeon Heights for nine years before coming to the high school.
I was the president of the Alberta Association of Veterinary Technologists and also represented Alberta on the Canadian Association. One of my duties as a member of the Canadian Association was to help write and develop questions and licensing exams that are used by Canada and the United States to licence veterinary technologists. I have also written questions for the grade 6 and 9 PAT's and the Biology 30 diploma.
I have a passion for biology, working with animals, being in the outdoors, and love to share this with my students. Earlier in my career I also received instructor certificates for the Alberta Hunter Education program and canoeing. I was an avid kayaker until injurying my back, so I now I pursue calmer activities.
